I agree with Marla’s statement in her blog stage 5 article that “same sex marriage
does not have to be accepted by everyone but it should be respected and treated
like any other marriage”. Some people say that accepting same sex marriage will
change the definition of marriage. I don’t think that is true, I don’t think
that the gay community is seeking to redefine marriage, I believe all they want
is to be accepted and treated equal like any heterosexual couples.
People against gay marriage also argue that it is against God’s law. There
are bibles for every religion even though some of them may be called different
names. I have not read all of them nor am I going to but according to the one I
have read and heard preached about, God does not say same sex couples cannot
get married or that they are cursed beings. So my question is who are we to
judge them so and deny them their rights?
Another reason people against same sex marriage give is that it is
against the law of reproduction. I find the above statement untrue because one
can get kids in many ways now days. If these
couples want children, they could adopt some of the children who are suffering
and those who have no parents or use other methods.
My point is that we are all made happy by different things so, if a
same sex couple believes that getting married will make them happy forever, let
them be; no one should deny another person their happiness.
